About Me
About Tim Collins, LPC
Since 2019 I’ve worked with a wide range of clients, from intensive residential treatment centers to private practice. I help people get unstuck and move forward, whether it’s personal struggles, family challenges, or life transitions. My therapy is direct, practical, and focused on real change.
Before becoming a therapist, I studied Finance and Economics and worked as a Healthcare Software Consultant. After years of working in Residential Treatment Centers and seeing mental health struggles up close in my family and community, I shifted my career to do work that felt meaningful and practical. That background shapes how I think about problem-solving, structure, and progress.
Availability: I work with clients in person in Kansas City and via Telehealth across Missouri.
Therapy Philosophy
My therapy is designed to meet clients where they are, not where a textbook says they should be. I focus on helping clients identify patterns, problem-solve effectively, and build strategies they can use outside of sessions. Together, we work on practical solutions that create tangible results.
Working With Adults
Many of my clients are financially successful or high-functioning but feel inwardly confused, stuck in repeating patterns, or uncertain about their next steps. Therapy with me is concrete and solution-focused, helping clients develop social support networks, reduce anxiety and depression, improve family connections, and make clear progress in life and work.
Working With Teens
I spent six years in residential treatment centers helping teens navigate school, family, and identity challenges. I work to build trust and connection, advocate for the teen, and coach families on improving communication. Sessions are direct, relational, and focused on problem-solving to improve family dynamics and peer relationships.
EMDR Therapy
I am trained in EMDR through the Roy Kissling program. EMDR helps process trauma and negative patterns, easing anxiety, depression, and phobias. Most clients feel relief within the first five sessions. EMDR helps your brain reprocess traumatic memories so your nervous system can respond as if the threat has passed.
Outside of Therapy
I’m married with one child and a golden doodle named Nala. I’m a former college athlete and enjoy reading fantasy and history, playing pickleball, and staying active whenever toddler life allows. I’m also involved in my church.
