EMDR Therapy in Kansas City, MO

Tim Collins

With Tim Collins,
Licensed Professional Counselor

I was trained in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) by the Roy Kissling program.

EMDR helps your brain and body process trauma so your nervous system calms and can stop reacting.

I help people get unstuck and regain control over their lives.

Do you feel like no matter what you try, your old patterns keep showing up?

Are anxiety, depression, or trauma keeping you from moving forward?

Whether you feel lost despite outward success, struggle with relationships, or just don’t know which direction to take, EMDR therapy can help your brain and body process what’s holding you back.

Clients Come To Me When They:

  • Repeat behaviors

  • Feel stuck

  • Have regular high stress or irritability

  • Phobias hollered them back

  • Experienced trauma

  • Struggle in relationships

  • Want to break habits

“Most clients see results & feel relief by 5 sessions”

How EMDR Therapy With Me Works

EMDR is a structured, 8-phase therapy that helps your brain process trauma so your nervous system stops reacting as if the threat is still happening.

With me, the pace is always personalized, grounded, and focused on comfort. You’re never rushed, and you’re never alone in the process.

Sessions are direct and practical, giving you concrete ways to start changing outside the office.

Modalities I Use

  • Helps your brain reprocess trauma memories; reduces emotional reactivity and triggers.

  • Identifies and shifts unhelpful thought patterns; increases clarity and problem solving.

  • Builds practical skills for behavior, emotional regulation, and managing day-to-day challenges.

  • Focuses on actionable strategies to make progress quickly.

  • Improves understanding and connection in relationships.

Create Lasting Change

EMDR helps you heal at the root, not just manage symptoms.

After EMDR Therapy, My Clients Report:

  • Less anxiety + depression

  • Better sleep

  • Healthier habits

  • Clearer life direction

  • Stronger relationships

  • Improved work performance

  • Broader support network

  • Joy returns

“EMDR Therapy Helps Heal What Talk Therapy Can’t Reach”

About Tim Collins, LPC

My approach centers on EMDR therapy because it allows clients to process trauma and negative experiences at their root, rather than just managing symptoms. I help people rewire their responses to past events so they can feel safe, confident, and capable in their daily lives. EMDR allows us to target memories that keep you stuck and create new, empowering perspectives about yourself and your relationships.

Sessions are structured yet flexible, moving at a pace that respects your comfort. Together, we build internal resources, process trauma, and develop actionable steps so the changes continue outside the office. Many clients find relief within the first few sessions and notice lasting shifts in anxiety, stress, and self-perception.

Before becoming a therapist, I studied Finance and Economics and worked as a Healthcare Software Consultant. After years of working in Residential Treatment Centers and seeing mental health struggles up close in my family and community, I shifted my career to do work that felt meaningful and practical. That background shapes how I think about problem-solving, structure, and progress.

Outside of therapy, I’m married with one child and a golden doodle named Nala. I enjoy fantasy and history books, playing pickleball, and keeping active when I can.

Availability: I work with clients in person in Kansas City and via Telehealth across Missouri.
